We want to extend a special welcome to you on behalf of more than 200 members who live in the Jakarta area.  We invite you to visit us anytime and learn about our mission, now six decades strong.  

The American Women’s Association is a non-profit charitable organization of women committed to promoting social welfare, improving the lives of those in our host country, and fostering feelings of fellowship among our members.  Our active, vibrant members, many international, represent more than 40 countries.  The AWA welcomes expatriates who are interested in friendship, cultural exchange, activities, tours, classes and charitable endeavors.

We hope you’ll browse through our website and learn more what we’re about.  Drop by our AWA Center and meet our many volunteers who provide a sense of community to those new to Jakarta and to those who have been around for many years.  Our lively staff connects newcomers with a supportive network of fellow expatriates.  Our Center is a special place; we hope you’ll think of it as your “home AWAy from home."  Here, you can volunteer your time, grow friendships, and truly make a difference in the Jakarta-area communities. Pop in for our popular “Coffee & Chat”, attend social meetings, sign up for tours, travel opportunities, cooking classes, Yoga, crafting classes, bowling, bunko, and more.  
 
Our spirited fundraising team hosts fantastic special events throughout the year to keep your social calendar full!  Margaritaville, Fall & Spring Shopping Bazaars, a formal gala ball, our ever-popular Bourbon Street Bash, and so on.

Throughout our 60 year history, the AWA has been the driving force behind incredible social welfare programs that make communities healthier and more vital places to live.  Our hardworking volunteers provide much needed help and practical support to the Jakarta community.  We offer a wide range of programs that take advantage of the wealth of skills offered by our members.  Why just this past year, we have made a difference with literacy assistance, student scholarships, nutritional programs, critical surgeries for vision & cleft palate, feeding programs for all ages, job skills enrichment, sanitation programs, water treatment systems, donations of computers, hygiene help, and on and on.

We hope you find the information you need, whether it is learning about the community programs we support, attending one of our Special Events, making a contribution to support our efforts, or becoming a member and eventually a friend of the AWA.
