Hello and welcome to the American Women’s Association of Indonesia!

I am Heidi Cook, President of AWA for our membership year 2013-2014.  It is my pleasure to welcome you to our website, where I hope you can find many ways for AWA to become a part of your new life here in Jakarta.

AWA was my first stop in Jakarta over a year ago, and it it has become an indispensable part of my expat life. From my first Social & Shopping event, where I sat with a table of other friendly and eager “newcomers” who are now my friends, to my first AWA Bazaar, where I spent a bit too much to make my new house feel more like a home, AWA has always provided the sense of fellowship and belonging I needed during my time of transition to this new city.

AWA encouraged me to become involved in her many social welfare opportunities. Whether you are able to give of your time and talent, or enjoy attending lively fundraising events, AWA makes it easy for you to find the right way to support our Indonesian neighbors.

I am so impressed by the quality of AWA’s publications, which have helped me learn the language, understand Indonesian culture and heritage, and guide me through popular local shopping spots.  And I know I’m not the only AWA member who carries several AWA books in the car for quick and easy reference!

I would like to personally invite you to join us at one of our weekly Monday Coffee & Chat mornings at the AWA Center.  It’s a casual, come-and-go affair, and there are always many established AWA members available to help you understand how AWA can enrich your experience in Jakarta.  We look forward to meeting you!

Warmly,

Heidi Cook

AWA President 2013-2014
