Welcome to AWA! ![]() The American Women’s Association of Indonesia has a long history of providing expats a network of friends, learning opportunities, and social welfare projects. That’s exactly why we’re looking forward to this next year, as we have an chance to improve upon our principles to create a more sustainable organization. We’ll get to know each other more so we can share information to make living in Jakarta a truly enjoyable experience. We’ll aim to make sure we're offering interesting programs and fun activities. We’re planning to allocate more funds towards local schools and orphanages so they can improve their facilities and curriculum. In May, we visited Sekolah Kami (see photo, I'm third from the left, by the way) and it further emphasized how much of an impact AWA can have on the community. Our funding has improved the kitchen and bathrooms, purchased garden supplies, and resurfaced a patio play area. We've also paid for a English teacher to help the kids further improve their language skills. It's going to be something special. Katie Hagar Former AWA President p.s. We’d love to hear from you!
